How to Check a Used Motorbike

Six steps to go through before you buy a used bike.

  1. Run the reg and confirm make, model, colour and year.
  2. Check MOT history on GOV.UK for free.
  3. Order a history report for finance, stolen and write-off records.
  4. Match the frame and engine numbers to the V5C.
  5. Look over chain, sprockets, tyres, brakes, forks for leaks and signs of a drop.
  6. Take a test ride and get the seller's address from the V5C.
